i) Noun: It’s a word that can refer to a person, place or thing.

ii) Verb: It’s a word that denotes an action or a state.

iii) Adjective: It’s a word that qualifies nouns.

iv) Adverb: It’s a word that can modify the meaning of verbs, adjectives or adverbs.

v) Conjunction: It’s a word that connects words, phrases or sentences.

vi) Preposition: It’s a word that combines with a noun, a pronoun or a noun phrase to form a prepositional phrase and these can express possesssion, place, time, etc.

vii) Subject: It can be a noun, a pronoun or a noun phrase that represents the doer of the action in a sentence.

viii) Object: It can be a noun, pronoun, or noun phrase that receives or is affected by the action of a verb in a sentence.
